In November 2009 and as the inauguration of the Ágora of the City of Arts and Sciences, the Open 500 of the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) was held. For nine days (from 31st October to 8th November) this tournament brought the world’s best tennis players together in Valencia to great public acclaim, and also generated business opportunities and much interest. Andy Murray was the winner of the first edition of the tournament.

In 2010 the Spanish tennis player David Ferrer was the winner of the second edition of this event, which was held at the City of Arts and Sciences from Saturday 30th October to 7th November. The Ágora building housed the central court of the competition, which featured some of the best players in the world such as Andy Murray, Nikolay Davydenko, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, David Ferrer, Robin Soderling, Fernando Verdasco, Tommy Robredo, and Mikhail Youzhny, among others. Throughout the week thousands of visitors enjoyed the Fun Park on the parades surrounding the Science Museum and the Agora, a shopping, leisure, and restaurant area that is free to all and also offers children’s activities.
