| "Scientists and their artistic work" Posted: 23 Mar 2011 05:42 PM PDT Located at the third floor of the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum, the exhibition “Scientist and their artistic work” aims to show the relationship between art and science. In this new exhibition, we find clear examples of the convergence between these two disciplines that has been apparent since antiquity and right up to today”. Now is holding a selection of 24 paintings and 26 sculptures by Sacramento and they will be on display in the Museum until September. Sacramento graduated in Medicine from the University of Valencia in 1938 and became an ear, nose and throat specialist under the guidance of his father, a distinguished surgeon and one of the pioneers of this field in Valencia. He has created new surgical techniques to treat hypoacusis and introduced surgery for deafness to Spain. As a child, he showed a talent for drawing. In this, he is completely self-taught: he has received his education from work and by observing nature. His artistic career has been prolific and he has won numerous awards in Spain and abroad, in the different media in which he works: painting, drawing, ceramics and posters. Sacramento transcends the artistic trends of the moment and is true to his own view of space and time. He creates a completely new and personal abstract language. He suffers from dyschromatopsia, which prevents him from distinguishing between different colours, so that when he paints, he notes down the name of the colour next to it. |
