Of all the products that are obtained from distilling crude oil, gasoline is perhaps the most important. However, it is not easy to produce as, before it reaches the public, it has to undergo a series of complex, latest generation, technological processes. Formula One is a real testbed for assessing all these processes with the aim of being able to later pass a reliable product on to the consumers.
At the conference, Ian Albiston will undertake a practical demonstration using different fruit juices in order to demonstrate the complex nature of the fuels and lubricants supplied by Shell to the Ferrari Scuderia. Just like a cocktail, fuels and lubricants are created from a mixture of refined components and additives, the optimum final product constantly being sought.
As a special feature of this conference, Ian Albiston will draw two winners out from the registered names of those attending. The prize will be a visit to Tracklab, the racecourse laboratory that Shell will set up in the paddock of the Valencia Street Circuit for the Formula One Grand Prix.
There will be two categories, depending on the age of the pupils attending:
- From 10 to 15 years old
- 16 years old and above (a supporting document will be required).
Winners shall have the option of inviting their teacher or any family member to accompany them on this unforgettable visit.
The visit will take place on 23rd June at 16.00 h. The winners shall receive detailed information at the end of the conference.
