Surprising Geometry Show

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 05:38 PM PDT

Time: 7pm
Date: Monday, 19 th December 2011
Auditorium Santiago Grisolía, Science Museum Príncipe Felipe

Hold a painting of a building drawn in perspective. Where precisely was the painter observing the scene from? Artists have used the rules of perspective since the Renascence. Do you know how and why perspective works?

By Dr Sara Santos, Clotyhworkers' Felllow in Mathematics from  Royal Institution of Great Britain, the show will present you with a feast of mathematical curiosities such as Ames’ room, less well known truths about triangles, noughts and crosses and the counterintuitive world of topology.

Disclaimer: all fun maths facts featuring in this show are not fictitious. Any resemblance to maths you have seen in school is fantastically coincidental.

Free entry; limited capacity
