Below are just a few of the best ideas that should not be missed if you visit the complex over the coming days: - Space Academy recreates through the movement simulation three stages in the preparation for the space launching until the International Space Station. There are modules to help you to understand several basic concepts, such as the apparent movement of the stars, the difference between solar time and civil time or between longitude and latitude, when solstices and equinoxes occur, what solar declination is, etc. And we do this in an interactive and fun way, because there are few things that arouse our curiosity more than observing the sky. - Marvel at living corals while you look for Nemo in the Tropics hall of the Oceanographic or experience the sea from the centre of a wave in the Mediterranean aquarium: the feeling of entering into the very heart of waves is possible in "Breakers". Through a tunnel, you gain access to the aquarium itself. - Enjoy the open air terraces, and - why not? - take, as a souvenir, a photo with the Hemisfèric and the Science Museum in the background, one of the most photographed points identified with Valencia.

180 profesores de la Comunidad Valenciana comparten experiencias innovadoras y talleres para explicar ciencia en las aulas Posted: 10 Apr 2014 04:20 PM PDT Un total de 180 profesores de Primaria y Secundaria de la Comunitat Valenciana participan el 11 y 12 de abril en las jornadas “Actividades científicas motivadoras, hacia una comunidad de prácticas” que se celebran en el Museo de las Ciencias y han sido organizadas en colaboración con la Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Deporte. Este encuentro tiene como objetivo que el profesorado comparta buenas prácticas experimentales que realizan habitualmente en sus centros educativos. De este modo, además de asistir a varias ponencias, los docentes participarán en la presentación de experiencias innovadoras y talleres científicos motivadores que posteriormente tendrán la oportunidad de reproducir en sus aulas.

El edificio circular 'Mediterráneo' del Oceanogràfic acoge hasta 7.400 ejemplares Posted: 11 Apr 2014 12:44 AM PDT El público puede acceder a este espacio directamente desde el edificio de acceso a través de un pasaje donde recae una cascada. La instalación circular, que rinde homenaje al mar Mediterráneo, muestra una parte de la riqueza biológica mediante la exhibición de nueve acuarios: Praderas de Posidonia, Puerto, La Rompiente, Piscina de contacto, Mesolitoral, Infralitoral, Coralígeno, Cefalópodos (sepias y pulpos) e Invertebrados. Sabías que... - La Posidonia oceánica es una planta con hojas, raíces, flores, frutos y semillas. - El espectáculo de las verdes praderas submarinas, la Posidonida oceánica, es algo exclusivo del mediterráneo. - Al comienzo de la primavera es frecuente encontrar en nuestras playas restos de rizomas y hojas muertas de Posidonia Algunos de estos restos son moldeados por la acción del viento, las olas y la arena formando las llamadas pelotas de mar. - La contaminación, las artes de pesca indebidas y las construcciones humanas amenazan ahora con extinguir esta especie, cada vez más escasa. - En el acuario  'Praderas de Posidonia' encontramos peces como salpas, fredis, tordos e invertebrados como pepinos de mar, erizos y estrellas, entre otros. - Entre las plantas, el público puede observar a los curiosos peces pipa. - La Rompiente. El diseño singular de este acuario permite adentrarse en el corazón mismo del oleaje. A través de un túnel, el público accede dentro del propio acuario protegido por una campana acrílica desde donde puede comprobar y sentir como una ola rompe contra un acantilado rocoso produciendo un efecto turbulento. - En el espacio 'Puerto' hay un pulpo 'camuflado'. Sabías que... están considerados como los animales invertebrados más inteligentes. En general, todos los cefalópodos tienen un sistema nervioso muy complejo para ser invertebrados. - Uno de los acuarios de Mediterráneo representa una zona rocosa donde se pueden observar dos ambientes: una zona iluminada y una cueva en penumbra. En estos lugares se distribuyen diferentes tipos de invertebrados atendiendo a sus necesidades de luz: la anémona incrustante gris, gornonia sarmiento, coral rojo, coral amarillo, coral botón de oro, y anémona joya. - Por debajo de los 20 metros de profundidad, donde la temperatura es fría y la luz azulada, se desarrolla un paisaje exclusivo del Mediterráneo: el coralígeno. Grandes depredadores como el mero patrullan este jardín formado por algas calcáreas y animales de esqueleto duro. - A la salida de 'Mediterráneo' en dirección hacia 'Humedales', junto al lago central y una pequeña playa crece una planta muy mediterránea y de gran importancia histórica: el papiro.
